Re: Go Pro HERO3 black edition?

Got a model number on the Swann's?

An internet search only seems to show security cameras. They do have a nifty pen camera but I don't usually wear a business suit while skin diving (kinda takes away from the whole "skin" thing).

Thanks

Look for a Swann Freestyle. There is a 720 and 1080 version. I'm debating on this myself. They pop up on a deal a day site I watch periodically. The comments have given it high marks but I have no personal experience yet.

Thanks. That looks sweet.

The missus and I were looking at a regular HD video recorder but this might be much better.

Thanks again.

Check eBay. The first auction I saw had shipping to Canada and around $150 US.

The item number I looked at was 350740970074 and the unit is new.

Enjoy!

Why I am not surprised ... ... sorry!

They ship anywhere, but please validate the vendor first: http://www.ipmart.com/usa/product/Sw...hp?prod=354523

I was just looking at that one. Unless customs charges $100 or more, it's a good deal. Also found someone in my area who has one for $260 Cdn negotiable.

Don't even get me started on Canada Customs or Government subsidies. We want to keep this thread open

I won't but I did see something you may like. Amazon.ca has it for $237 CDN new and $7 SH for shipping. Pull it up and look for other buying options under where you'd add it to your bag. This link might work:
http://www.amazon.ca/gp/offer-listin...&condition=new

It's not great but is better than $335! It is in Canada so no import duties.

Re: Go Pro HERO3 black edition?

I'll give another +1 to the contour. Look at the models and see what features you really need. I have an older Contour 1080P and the newer Contour GPS. Both work great - I upgraded for the wider angle (which has slight fish eye like GoPro - older one does not FYI) and GPS and phone as a viewfinder feature, plus underwater housing availability as my older one did not have underwater housing that would be good for diving.

Thanks for saving me $400 on a bad product. Rebel Heart, I owe you a beer next time you are back in San Diego.

I think I want the Contour now, but which model?

Re: Go Pro HERO3 black edition?

I ended up getting the Contour +2 to replace my contour HD for the underwater housing and other features.

You should just look at the specs and see what you need/want. The GPS is mainly useful when viewing in storyteller (their software) or when you upload to their site. Otherwise it isn't usable by other video editing software for the most part. Do you want a wide angle lens or are you not as concerned - the wider lenses on the newest cameras do have some fish eye, but I don't find it to be an issue.

You can see a couple of videos I posted with the +2 here : Contour | Users | maytrix

And some older ones with the Contour HD 1080P here: TweedValleyTravelers's channel - YouTube

Haven't uploaded any boat footage yet.

I have a gopro 2 and 3
The 2 has worked well mostly for over a year. The 3 is a POS that never worked correctly right out of the box.

Re: Go Pro HERO3 black edition?

I've the new one and have the freezing/battery problems. It only seems to freeze on me when I'm underwater with a once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity or in some position where I can't open the case and remove the battery!

I'm not a happy GoPro customer and it doesn't look like there's a solution in sight.
