Yes, I noticed the same thing, it didn't seem to have much glide. But I guess its a big step up from your average inflatable kayak.

That wide stern adds a lot of wetted surface and drag, but may make it pretty stable and possibly makes a great platform to slide up if you end up in the water or want to go swimming. It looks like it would be easy to chuck a dry bag of gear on the stern, or an anchor...

Yes. Less glide but some extra stability I think. There are many levels of fitness here. I find it difficult to get into the regular (canoe shaped) kayak alongside but it is quite doable with a rotomolded beamy design.

So I think this HYPAR design has its own specific merits. I will try to test ride one if I see one around. It is made in Europe and I see people bringing in new toys from the continent every fall. I may have a chance then.
