"must stops from Houston to So Padre" if any?

Going to put a small charter together for the wife and I and just venture down the gulf coast for a bit and back...so I am looking for the little known gems along the way. (Great place to drop a hook and dingy to the "x" bar or restaraunt, A marina where we can enjoy a princess shower and and visit some locals.

Any info appreciated in advance.

Thanks

Ron

We are in Port Aransas. It would be a mistake to miss it. The City Marina is right at the base of the jetties to the Gulf, and at the Lydia Ann (alternate ICW) junction with the Corpus Christi ship channel. Transient slips, clean showers, walk to restaurants (longish to some, but not bad).

Other great places we've been or heard of:

Port O'Connor, The Sanctuary. Beautiful marina.

Port O'Connor, Army Hole on Matagorda Island. Really remote, very safe, and very cool. State Park.

Ingleside Cove - near the split from the Corpus Christ ship channel, and the La Quinta channel that goes to Portland. Where the big cranes are. Ingleside is generally considered the best anchorage on the Texas Coast.

Mud Island, near San Jose Island, across from Rockport. Good anchorage unless a norther comes thru.

If you plan on heading offshore a bit, and like the water below the waterline be sure to see the Flower Gardens
