Storing snorkeling gear aboard

I am trying to figure out how to store my snorkeling equipment on board, especially the snorkel and the mask since they tend to get moldy.
If I look online, people write s#*t like “store in a cool dry place” reading which makes me want to kill a small critter. Seriously? In a boat?

What would be a successful way in storing the stuff? Pelikan case? Mesh bag?

Thanks for any advice.

They mold when dirty, or damp.

I store my in a locker, (not Lazarette), after washing, and drying them, leaving to air dry several hours before storage.

30 years, no mold on semi tropical Gulf coast

I place this stuff into a plain plastic bag and then wash it off in first rain. And then I store it anywhere when sweet.

Mesh bag in the lazarette. Never washed off. Still good after 16 years.

Rinse in fresh water and dry will help stop the mould. Store in a plastic bag.

Rinse
Store in plastic bucket.

If you worry a lot about it, then: rinse, let it dry well outside, store in a sealed plastic container.
I snorkeled a lot so I just rinsed and put it in the bucket in the locker.

My only complaint about mesh bags is the stuff gets jammed in there and it deforms the flexy things on the mask etc. Of course they dont stay that way too long.

Rinse out with fresh water, dry on deck, then into a mesh bag, and store in lazarette. Never had an issue in 8 seasons doing it this way..

Re: Storing snorkeling gear aboard

If mold or mildew is a problem. Before storing away give your snorkel and mask a quick bath in water with a few drops of bleach. Then dry off and put into a mesh bag. The lazeret seems a good place for mold so I keep my in my clothes drawer.
cheers,
Jim
