Top Sailing Movies

Hi all,
I've compiled a list of sailing movies on my blog, or at least movies that have to do with sailing in some way. Did I miss any that you know of?

Re: Top Sailing Movies

Titanic had sails? Well no wonder it sank, then. It was another monohull..

Thanks for the movie list. We've been downloading various stuff for later replay. We finally watched Lost in it's entirety on our trip down here. I think she's downloading all the Viking stuff now. Movies will be good, too.

Re: Top Sailing Movies

There's also an interesting, short documentary about Ant Steward. A young, soft-spoken, South African who built an open sailboat (designed by Dudley Dix) ... less than 20 ft long ... and then sailed it, alone, around the world in the early 1990's. He got very little press ... don't think he really wanted any ... he just wanted to sail. Found the film on youtube, I believe it's actually called "Anthony Steward, The Last of the Firsts":

Thank you for this thread. I found Ant's story very inspiring, and I enjoyed Capt. Slocum's documentary. Maybe I will make it out there after all....

Re: Top Sailing Movies

Wind Athletes Canada put out a documentary series recently, called Sailing Around the World. I think the best one is 'Racing Around the World Alone' following the Vendee race, but the others are good too. Check out the site here: Sailing Around The World - The Series

Shackleton's Voyage of Endurance

orthe Emmy winning Shackleton, with Kenneth Branagh. I thought they were exceptional.
