What is this creature?

I did fish this last night, any idea?
Not knowing I released it.

Here in veneto the name is "canoce" (cannocchie in italian). You boiled it and eat with a little oil and parseley souse.

Looks like a mantis shrimp,aka thumbsplitter. Have been known to crack aquarium glass with their front appendages. Wreak havoc in reef aquariums.Be careful if you catch another.

Yep, mantis shrimp........ the “ Bruce Lee “ of the sea. One that size can do serious damage with a lightning fast strike.
The feather like weapons are sometimes used as a pendant earring by fishermen’s girlfriends.
