Re: Where do you hang a hammock?

I hang mine between the mast and the fore stay. I use the spinnaker pole ring on the mast which is adjustable vertically and then I use a spare halyard, usually the spinnaker's along with a sail tie around the furled Genoa on the stay. The halyard supports the weight while the sail tie keeps it on the fore stay. When things get rocky, I also use bungie cords on the sides to the rails or lifeline to dampen the rocking of the hammock. This works quite nicely except in lots of wake or wave action. Best place to nap especially if your hammock envelopes you on the sides.

Re: Where do you hang a hammock?

Off a bail on the bottom of the boom and the other end on the spinnaker halyard (tied to a pulpit for horizontal separation)

I spent one of the nicest weeks of my life in Lake Macquarie back in the early 90's. There was a great little pub with a deck overlooking a marina, and when people found out I was a Yank I never bought another VB. I also had trouble finding my way out of there!

I would hang that hammock right there on that deck...

Re: Where do you hang a hammock?

I hang mine between the mast and head stay, as in my photo. But do pay attention to My Wind Lass's suggestion for bungie cords or a thwartship line to dampen any swinging - things can quickly get crazy and even dangerous once it starts to swing.

No they are not because they have polystyrene balls in them that are bad for everyone and everything, in the end .

Very bad on a boat 'when' they invaribly get loose. Stop bilge pumps, block stringer holes..

Re: Where do you hang a hammock?

I have a 22ft O'Day and I've been trying to figure the same thing out. I am going to try next week to hang it from forward to the mast. I'm thinking I'll use the jib halyard to hold the front of the hammock up and main halyard to hold the back of the hammock up.
