Cuban Yoyo. Why complicate things...

in Cuba, Florida, Ocean City, Maryland or Montauk in the early 60s it was big Senators and if you had the bucks Fin Nor reels . But thats for sport. I like spinning tackle and hand lines!

Re: Which fishing reel brand should I go for?

I've used Penn reels for years! Then I purchased a couple of Avet! After fishing for for almost 40 years, I've slowly over the last 4 years, replaced all my Penns with Avet. I sold the last 2 Penn 30sw's 7 months ago. I now own 3 EXWs, 3 LXs, 3 JXs. 80/40/25lb lines! I am able to travel to Baja with the medium and larger stuff. All 3 sizes I usually use in Southern California waters. I probably sold 20+ Penn reels and Diawa over Craig's list. I realized I was keeping some of it for sentimental reasons. Now all Avet. I actually took my whole management team about 3 years ago to the Avet factory in Chatsworth California. All made in the USA by Aerospace engineers who have loved fishing all their lives! Hopes this helps! Tight lines!

Thanks again for all the feedback. I am leaning towards Penn Senator reels.

Re: Which fishing reel brand should I go for?

Dear Cruising Brothers and Sisters:
I had posted this question as well, and you can find the discussions we had...Just FYI now I found a reel (definitely more expensive, sorry) but I freakin LOVE it-it aint a $1000 Tuna reel, but as close as I'm going to get, pretty darn Shimano bulletproof. Let me know anyone disagrees, this thing is big and awesome, and I've seen my daughter pull in a crazy huge fish with the high torque shift on the fly switch--ideal when you have a strong braid on. Give any who might benefit a fish fighting belt (even with shoulder harness if they need) and this reel allows some pretty regular small people to get some pretty spectacular fish:
SHIMANO TLD 50 II LRS A 2 SPEED Trolling Multiplier Offshore TLD50IILRSA

just wanted to pass on anything I like this much--as always thanks to my brothers and sisters--you can tell we're the real deal by our posts, and by the way the other one I loved was the Penn, which was the less pricey exact competition, do love it but wore out parts twice already...like I said if you got $400 bucks this one is bulletproof...

and sorry my bro and sis, don't hate on me...I just am a bad fit for the YoYo..probably too old...but God Love all of you who can rock it and not almost cut yourself, I mean that!!

Why would you cut yourself?
$5 gloves, not an issue.
