Very negative indeed, so do please explain, what's comforting?

SeaWorld just announced layoffs, and said that they will be letting 125 people go.
"Must be nice." said the animals.

I have very mixed feelings about SeaWorld, just like I have very mixed feelings about zoos. For many people, this is the only opportunity they will ever have to see these magnificent creatures, and perhaps build an appreciation for the species. Yet, of course, it is at a terrible cost to the individual creatures that they are seeing.

Comforting- as in nostalgia for a long-gone time ( probably never was) when everyone felt happy and in-tune with nature. If the docs are correct, it was dark behind the scenes, but it didn't feel that way as a child being so close to such magnificent creatures.

Research it thoroughly. Don't believe the documentaries with an agenda.

Interesting- would you say the docs over-hyped the negative? I'd believe it. Yes, it was a business with a bottom line, but the people who worked at seaworld, i believe, really loved the animals and their job.

Lived in an apartment on the south side of Orlando back in the early eighties. A couple of SeaWorld employees lived there also, and I got to know them fairly well. I can guarantee you -- at least for some of them -- that the above statement is true!

Interestingly enough, several Disney employees also lived in the complex. They were pretty much uniform in their dislike for working for The Rat (as they put it).

While eating at a Sea World restaurant, a waiter offered me some tasty, brazed fish stick samples.
I told him, "These are delicious... what do you call them?
He said, "Slow Learners"

But perhaps being actually hunted by one of these magnificent animals builds and even closer appreciation….

Yep, the people I knew decades ago that work at Seaworld where there for the animals. Same as many people who work in zoos and the various animal rescue organizations.
