I don't know the year. I did hook it up to a 12v power supply and the heading selector does move the arm. Also, the arm responds to changes in heading.

I looked at my Autohelm 1000 , and it looks very different and appears to mount different so I will pass on this. There must be a new and an old model 1000. Good luck with it. _____Grant.
