Electric Outboard 9.9 HP, Lithium ion batteries, charger, and controls

Haibo brand R400S, 3000w(9.9 HP) with two 48V 300A batteries, charger and steering wheel control equipment. Perfect for an environmentally sensible small runabout.

I am 79 years old and have recognized that my physical limitations don't allow for boating anymore in spite of just purchasing this set up last summer with only three times on the water.

Asking $4500

I am confused by the math, isn't a 3Kw motor a 4hp motor? Or ? am i missing something?

Thank you for your question. Although I may be incorrect, the motor and two batteries were sold to me as being the equivalent power of 9.9 horsepower. Based on your note, I have sent notes to the the original vendor and to Haibo for their clarification. Stay tuned.

Electric motors have a much higher efficiency than internal combustion engines.

The electric motor is putting more of its power into the water as propulsion for its given total power.

Hence the difference.

It would be interesting to see the shafts horsepower for both engines.

I'm still waiting to hear from Haibo and my vendor but thought you might be interested in the Haibo site and perhaps you could inquire about your HP question including the last one. Here's their site:

pirate Re: Electric Outboard 9.9 HP, Lithium ion batteries, charger, and controls

Apologies regarding my listing. While I am not 100% certain, it appears that the motor I originally purchased was not 9.9 HP but half that based on a formula provided by the company that sold it; i.e. 1 hp = 0.76 kw.
So ... the motor and batteries are still up for sale but are closer to 4 hp.
Meanwhile, the transaction leading to this mistake has been brought to the original seller's attention.

Re: Electric Outboard 9.9 HP, Lithium ion batteries, charger, and controls

For those interested in the Haibo R400 Electric Outboard, I have spent the last week exploring the situation and realize I made a mistake and it is the equivalent of approx. 4 horsepower.
Upshot, while waiting for permission to edit the original posting, I am lowering the price to $3000 or best offer.
Hope this has appeal for one of you.
