Lewmar ocean 66CEST 2 speed winch (electric) or 66ST manual

Hi all,
Was servicing a new to me boat and found the thread on the top locking ring damaged on an electric Ocean 66 ST winch, will need new stem or a whole used winch will also do. Just trying to see if I can get a used one before I have to sell one of my children before I buy the new stem.

Thanks for looking.
Cheers
Paul

if it is part number 45000917 then is is a pricey bit.. https://www.fisheriessupply.com/lewmar/45000917

I bet you could have it made for you at some local fabricator, especially if you can get the old version to them

Yes it is a bit pricey to say the least, it might be a bronze machine tube that is shrunk into the lower casted part, if so maybe be able to just get that tube fabricated and replaced…? Just need to winch to function to get me
Back to Melbourne from the Gold Coast and I can have a better look then.

Damaged threads? In a bronze part? You should be able to get that repaired. I would think any lost material can be built up with brazing, then recut the threads.

I’m curious. Moonbeam has those same 66ST winches as primaries. I suspect original. She is 1972. What year is your boat?
And as others have suggested most local machine shops will be able to repair it. Propellor shops are essentially specialized machine shops. Check with them too.

Thanks all, yes maybe a braze and machining may work, its really only holding on the top screw cap that retains the drum.
Boat is year 2003. Winch are 66 Ocean ST. There are older 66ST models that are different again.

As soon as we get back to Melbourne I’ll pull it off and take it to the machine shop.

Would anyone know where I can get a 12v motor for my 1988 vintage Lewmar 65?
