Old Teak - Will Pay Shipping or Pick up Florida

I need the littlest scraps of teak. Usually I would just find these at the dumpster or a swap table at a marina, but my marina doesn’t have this anymore.

Need the following:

4 pieces of 1/2” thick, 3” wide and 12” long. Pieces could be bigger. These are the minimum size.

Or... just any block of teak that is at least 3” wide and 12” long.

Just need scrap. This is for the spot on my outboard mounts where the outboard grabs hold. Better to have that be wood.

If you come up dry here, call any local lumber suppliers and see if they have access to small cut offs, etc. If you have trouble finding teak pieces without having to order expensive ones from Defender or similar, check into Ipe or maybe Mahogany. Ipe is definitely durable enough for that usage and Mahogany should be as well.

Usually I see piles of old teak shelves and parts in the dumpsters at marinas. Of course, not when I’m looking for it. Ha ha ha.

Hey Chotu,

Last year when AtCowboy was finishing his refit, I found some teak pieces on Craigslist for modest amounts and sent him the link(s).

In the end, though, he found what he needed at his marina near the dumpster as you describe...

Good luck,

Here's some - but don't tell the guy you're going to cut them up for scrap!

Call John at Buck Woodcraft in FL, he sells teak shorts BY THE POUND - it's very good quality at a very reasonable price (and I owned a teak lumber importing company) - https://www.buckwoodcraft.com/teak-l...nd-rough-sawn/

I am a fan of Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene. It wears very well and doesn't weather like wood.

Where are you? I have two great pieces of teak, one is a spice rack that can be repuposed and one is a magazine rack, both could be cut and trimmed to your needs. I'm in St. Pete/Sarasota area.
