Profurl LC42 or LCI42 rebuild kit and parts

I have a set of brand new bearings and seals to rebuild a complete profurl system, plus all of parts to put together a whole system. including the titanium bolts, complete upper unit, furling drum etc. for an LC42 or LCI42.
The bearings are TIMKEN (Top quality) 50X80X10

$200 for the rebuild kit
$150 for all of the parts

I also have over 100 feet of extrusion if anyone is interested, we can negotiate a good price and shipping.

Located Deltaville VA.

Hmmmm. Any chance you have the splicing kits/plastic sleeves to go along with the extrusions?

Re: Profurl LC42 or LCI42 rebuild kit and parts

I’m not certain I have the 42, pretty sure. Back on the boat Tuesday and I can measure. If you still have it then I’ll PM. Definitely could use a rebuild of our foil section (the other stuff got rebuilt a couple of years ago). Would be nice to have the spares if I rebuild the foil.

Hi! I don’t need the rebuild kit, but how do you like the pro furl 42? Is it a good unit that you were satisfied with? The reason I ask is the boat yard is replacing my furling unit with the profurl 42 after a boating accident. It’s considerably cheaper than the Harken model… just wondering if the quality is there. Thanks

they are great. you should get 10 years or a couple of circumnavigations out of it before it needs a rebuild.

Re: Profurl LC42 or LCI42 rebuild kit and parts

I installed a Profurl LC42 on my boat.
Installation is very straightforward as it simply slides over the existing forestay from the bottom....you can do it by yourself, but an extra pair of hands is useful.
Never had a lick of problems with it and it always worked flawlessly.

Absolutely NOT, do not buy it. I have an older unit and am very unhappy that I do. I would never replace it with the same brand. It has jammed multiple times, once in 35 knots single handed. Very poor to non existent support from the overseas company and their US reps and dealer. And to top it off outrageous prices on parts if they are even available.

They’re actually more decent than this would imply. I have two on my 50 foot mono (one for a Solent stay) and am very happy with them. Many flawless experiences at and above 35 knots. The only issue I’ve ever had has been when my bearings/seals were shot and should have been serviced well beforehand. So long as you have healthy bearings and seals, you should be fine.

Perhaps you should buy the OP’s service kit and enjoy the perks of having well maintained equipment…..

Actually the failures related to design weaknesses not maintenance. Because the drums and the wire surrounds are not close fits it allowed line to become jammed between the drum and surrounds. A very difficult fix on a plunging foredeck. Another flaw is that the nuts that hold the two halves of the drum together are held in place by only light plastic so after a few times of disassembling the drum the plastic that holds those nuts is stripped out, you can’t even get a tool onto them because they are recesses into the plastic. It was designed to fail. A new drum? Haha I’d rather buy a Ferrari!

my experience is the same as Swift Drift. You might need this service kit once every circumnavigation or so

Do you happen to know if it is also for an NC-42?
