Free: Recommended Surveyor on Vancouver Island

Short Story

New to sailing. New to owning a boat.
Looking for an appropriate boat to live aboard on Vancouver Island BC.

Looking for an honest and through surveyor to help get into this without having my money sink out from under me in the first year. Don't need advice on the boat - just a surveyor on the Island.

Personal recommendations or warnings appreciated.

I don't know of a surveyor on the island, but I have used Kevin Woods of Woods Marine Consultants from Vancouver. He was very good and fairly reasonable. Cost was $18/ft but doesn't do the engine. PM me if you want his contacts.

Thanks, but getting him over to the Island would be cost prohibitive - more than the cost of the survey.

Try Jim Normey at Nordic Marine Surveyors - based on the island and he is VERY good. I had him do the survey on my boat last year, and I am on the mainland (I would not use anyone else).
