Of course it needs to be serviced, but will cost a bit more missing the 3 yr. and now a hydro test.

Needs to be service tested only on commercial use .
Cylinder is a simple co2 cylinder that air o can hydro for around 20$, hydro required for filling .
Moisture sensitive disc is the only tricky item to service. Professional services are overpriced and over rated, IMO
The 500$ is still a bit high for a backyard kiddie swimming pool .

That is the million dollar question, isn't it.

Asked around for ~ recert costs in the mid-Atlantic, $365 + expired parts +hydro testing (every 5 yrs) maybe $700-800 if raft is still in good condition.

new raft 2.0 version =$1649 +135 freight (boat show price until 3/12)

So take your chance w/a used one (w/a recert) for ~$1200-1,300 or get a new one for $1774

Sorry , not air o !
Should be Airco, or Praxaire.
Whether they can fill it depends on the skill and knowledge of the filler, as the raft cylinder valve is a different animal than most common commercial valves.
I’m going out in my backyard to air up my freebie Sar-6 .
It’s a pride whirlpool too.

Re: Revere 4 Person Life Raft Offshore Commander

Very timely thread as I brought my Coastal Commander in for service today. It is 10 years old and had never been serviced but was kept inside and the vacuum seal was still intact. My goal was to get another 3 years if possible, and if not, agreed to buy a new raft. The service technician unwrapped the raft, inflated it, showed me all the features and how to deploy/use in an emergency, had me get in, and then unwrapped contents and showed me what actually comes inside the raft (which makes me understand so much more why a good ditch bag is critical).

The raft tested great and looked and actually smelled like new too. CO2 tank needs to be hydro'd, perishables replaced, and raft repacked after passing inflation tests.

Initial estimate I was given was $700 + hydro and supplies. Was told figure maximum of $900. If you have a good raft that meets current needs, likely still less expensive than new. But buying used (other than if it came with the boat your bought), is likely a bigger gamble than worth it.

Good luck! And if you do buy a raft that needs servicing, definitely go in and watch the process and see what your raft looks like.

I have the exact same unit. I liked it because of the weight.
I had it serviced in Nov 2019 - $963 with tax at the factory in Jacksonville.
