Slip Needed - North FL

Hi all,
I am looking for a slip (preferably with 30A and water) to park my 41' sailboat for a few months. I'm currently in St. Augustine and need to find a place by the end of May. If anybody can help, it would be greatly appreciated and of course I'm not looking for a free slip. Thanks everybody!!

Several marinas on the St Johns River just south of JAX and a bit closer to you than Pensacola.

Hello Swift
Exploring the Gulf Coast is definitely on my list, just not really possible for me to make that long of a trip right now due to work. Even if nothing went wrong or broke on the boat underway, it'd still take me a couple weeks to get around to Pensacola. My boss is awesome about understanding the realities of living on and moving a boat since he's touring the country and living in an RV bus right now. We're just such a small company that we can't lose one person for more than a day or two before, well, it'd be really unpleasant for our clients.

But, yes. Gulf Coast around to LA and TX from here in Jax/St. Aug is going to be an epic trip when I have the time!!! Thank you for your reply and suggestion!!

I'm hoping to get a slip at Ortega River Marina. Just waiting on a call back to see if they've got an open spots. I drew up the route last night and it's about 54 miles, so either one hectic day at full beans or two relaxing days at a leisurely pace to get there from St. Aug. Here's to hoping they've got a slip

Thanks Skip

There is a good marina about 3hrs (by boat) or 30min by car south of st Aug on the ICW, Marineland Marina. Rate is $10-$11/ft they have power (extra) and water.

Hi
I contacted them earlier this week as Marineland would be a really fun place to stay. They don't allow liveaboards unfortunately. Seems to be an increasingly common theme in many of these marinas now.

Thanks Skip

Take the two days. Quite a current in the St. Johns River and if you're doing the ICW, the Tolomato has a good current too.

When I first read the title I was going to go gather up all my grandma's slips and send them your way. alas, that's not the case

I'm not an expert on the situation but I've been to a few marinas in Mid to north FL that 'officially' say no liveaboards, but there are many 'cruisers' that are always on their boats (as we were) that stayed for months at a time, especially over the winter. Saw potted plants, air conditioning units, bikes, get mail and packages delivered, the whole bit.

Don't know what constitutes a livaboard, maybe once you're there a year or more, or if you use them as a permanent address (don't know how they would know, we used our Vero marina for our Florida boat registration). The gist I got was that if you're a good tenant, they'll leave you alone, if you're not, it's an excuse to kick you out.

Ortega Creek Marine is awesome. I lived there for a few months. I'm at Green Cove Springs Marina now. I know they don't have any open slips, but maybe a mooring ball.

if you can you might want to check out the slip in person .. also bring a string with a weight to measure the depth noting the tide. Ortega River inlet can get shallow. good luck.

To your south you have options in Port Canaveral. IIRC, at least Cape Marina allows live aboard as does the yacht club.

As my dockmaster would say... "we don't have any liveaboards, we just have people who stay on their boat a lot."

But yes.. if you're a good tenant, I think they leave you alone. If you're not, it's definitely an excuse to kick you out, as Argyle38 mentioned above
