Re: St4000 Control Head Wanted

Im hoping even to find an electronics/circuit guru to repair my head unit..its functional except doesnt give enough power to wheel..$850 imo is too much for a 30 year old unit that could crap out at any time..

Re: St4000 Control Head Wanted

cdnmurse,

Test wheel motor with 12 volts to wheel in both directions.
Does it turn wheel each way with clutch engaged?
If yes, either wiring from / to head unit or wheel drive motor, or head unit.
Head unit MAY be bad, or have bad connections but is NOT NECESSARILY your problem.
PM me if you wish, I've been there with several fixes.
Electronic tech "retired", yeah right!

Re: St4000 Control Head Wanted

There are several complete systems and control heads on ebay. A good place to find parts. I do it all the time for spares.

Re: St4000 Control Head Wanted

Does applying 12 volts directly to the wheel without the head unit give you plenty of power to turn the wheel? Reverse the polarity to turn it the other way.
If so, the problem is either wiring to to the motor, or the head unit.
If it's still weak, it's the motor.
