Did you use the rudder with the torqeedo plastic throttle handle?
I wouldn’t have thought that would have had the required strength to push against the water with a rudder that size.
I use my 1003 on the back of my large trailerable yacht and the plastic handle protests a bit if I just move it sharply given the heavy yacht resisting turning just the propeller and shaft forces.

You are correct sir.

The linch pin has also been replaced with a stainless steel rod instead of the plastic one (this rod holds the battery, the tiller, and the motor together.) Drilled it for a couple keyrings as well, then attached lines to that rod and popped the handle into the upward stow position to steer with the lines. Frankly - I think the plastic handle works pretty good, has an LCD readout and twist throttle with emergency stop magnet key. Would be very cool to build a wooden tiller and build those parts into it though. Certainly a worthwhile project.

However, I did all that because the boat I built for it had the seat back up against the tiller. I have not actually used that rudder with the plastic tiller fully extended in the normal position, but I expect it would be ok. Can always build a new tiller or other steering mechanism as well. Interesting euphamism - a new tiller / rudder for your life. Boating definitely does that, separates you from all the **** out there (and all the easy stuff we rely on) then forces the development of self reliance - first alone, then with others.

Special things, boats. "you need a man with a boat" = you need to get away and restart (not, "all aboard" the sickship!!) Although that does seem to be common, and cruiseships can be a lot of fun - prefer the smaller boats though.
