I am downgrading so I need a smaller anchor 45lb. for a 35lb. The manson is in good condition no rust.

I have been considering the same exchange and have a near new Rocna 35 lb. I'm docked in Reynolds in Green Cove Springs, where are you located? Can we meet? Thank you in advance, Ray

Say what?

A 35 lb Rocna will not hold a 6 ton Bristol Channel Cutter?

In what bottom are you anchoring your BCC, Ray?

And what model of Manson (Supreme? Plough? Boss? Ray? see: https://www.mansonanchors.com/anchors/ for the range)?

Alan, why are you questioning what anchor someone else wants to use on their
boat. Are you an expert on anchors?

Quite the contrary, 6a.

I was interested in understanding what Captain Ray knows about a 35 lb Rocna that I don't.

I have no intention of upsetting your deal of the century to swap 45 lb of NZ steel for 35 lb of Chinese steel.

But consider ...

it's easy to understand why the skipper of a Bristol Channel Cutter, a boat that runs around with a priapism that is an impressive 7 foot long, might find a Rocna with a roll bar inconvenient to stow on the bow beside their personal Bwana Dik. So a BCC owner wanting to change to a Spade or a Sarca Excel or most anything that does not have a roll bar seems fairly natural.

I could also understand if a Rocna owner found that weed and mud balled on the flukes of the anchor once too often. And decided to swap to an anchor that does not suffer from the ball of mud failure, such as a Mantus or a Sarca Excel.

And I can understand a 35 lb anchor owner having to deal with weed or rocks and so preferring a heavier or more penetrating anchor that might pierce weed and so on.

But other than that ... unless your Manson is one of the models without a roll bar (i.e. not a Supreme), I don't understand why Ray would want an extra 10 lb to carry.

So I was just asking Ray in the hope he might explain what he found wanting in his 35 lb Rocna.

Wow, you sure are interested in what anchor other people put on their boat.
I only have an interest in what is on my boat.
