Wanted, 14-25 HP Diesel Engine

I am looking for a running Marine Diesel Engine between 14 and 25 HP. I am particularly interested in a Yanmar or marinated Kubota. I live in WA state, and would come take a look. If you know of anyone in the PNW who collects/sells used diesels I would be interested in that info as well. Thanks!

Marinated Kubotas are rather tough to chew.

Yes, chewy but the hard work pays off i've heard. You can get a lot of milage out of a well marinated engine.

My Kubota just burned through teriyaki. Really hard to work it into the cylinders as well.

You may have done this already, but I've seen decent used engines for sale at repair facilities from time to time. Sometimes recent rebuilds, etc. I'm sail near Portland, so would start with someplace like Cook Engine who services Yanmars and others. Folks like them would likely have leads for you to follow if they had nothing themselves. A builder and repair facility like Schooner Creek Boatworks might have an engine or two, or be able to suggest someone. This will likely be a research project, but that's where I'd start....after Google, of course....

I have a Yanmar 2QM20 w/transmission & panel. Located in Vancouver. Stored for at least 16 years.

You might want to check with a business that repairs and installs diesel generators. Generators sometimes get replaced for reasons other than bad engines and typically either the owner or maintenance shop will be willing to sell it.

If the P.O. is not interested, perhaps we could discuss your 2qm20? I have a very tired 2qm15 I love to replace. Even if your engine needs rebuilt I might be interested.
Thank you.

Thanks for all of the good ideas. Gmcgyvr I will contact you about looking at your Yanmar. Also good ideas to contact local repair shops. Plenty of good leads to move me down the road towards putting more money in the hole in the water that I call a boat.
