Where to List a Boat on Line?

My boat is on the upper Chesapeake. Are there web sites that you would recommend to sell a sailboat as the owner (vs. broker) other than CF?
Thanks for your suggestions!

Thank you.
Actually have those two, but not sure whether I need to post an ad in each appropriate city for Craigslist... Live in Philly, Boat on Chessie. Want to get the best coverage.

Spinsheet is good for that area. Might have to pay a couple bucks . . .

Sailingtexas.com is another possibility (for a free online site)

List it in as many places as you can get away with. Though you might discreetly inquire with CL as to what their guidelines for this are. But I've seen boats on CL listed in places over 1,000 miles away from where the boat was, in addition to it's being listed near home, & in several other locales on CL. Meaning that she was listed in most CL's for the whole eastern seaboard.

Other than that, find as many electronic & paper periodicals as you can, & post away. Including at Yacht Clubs, marinas, chandleries, newsletters, etc. Again, both paper & electronic, including bulletin boards. Ensuring that your boat gets plenty of exposure via folks shopping via SearchTempest.com & similar.

You might also call Annapolis Performance Sailing www.APSltd.com & ask them where it'd be good to list her. As they're a major retailer with lots of contacts in that area. Ditto on any outfitters, & periodicals headquartered in Newport, RI. Given that it's the other major E. Coast sailing hub up north.
And the Wooden Boat Forums might have some ideas on where best to try so that you get lots of coverage in New England.

Oh, & wander over to Sailing Anarchy, plus their forums as well. They have a classifieds section, plus a Big market share & audience.

From Recent Experience...EBay & Craigslist offer good exposure, but constant attempts by scam artists, land traders, tire kickers & wannabes. Ebay auction deals will fall thru, and paypal fees can get expensive. You will get constant attention from brokers & "consolidators" who offer to get you listed on "hundreds" of websites that never turn up on anyone's browser. Media such as Soundings & Spinsheet can offer immediate online listing, but the print editions will lag by a month or more. Be sure to keep careful track of usernames & passwords, and where you have put down your credit card for auto renewal.
Good luck, I think most agree it has been a lousy market for sellers.

I did have one buyer renig on a sale on EBay but had another make a $200 deposit and never show-up. To me putting up with the issues you point to out way paying broker fees. That being said, my experiences were not selling high-end boats.

Re: Where to List a Boat on Line?

Thank you all so much!
I am starting to feel a bit hopeless with this situation.
I have had up to three boats on occasion, but not so much tied up in them and not a time when there was any stress to react. Coming to retirement and some health issues making me face the necessity of leaning out possessions so I can focus better on the present and future.
These leads are perfect. Don't know why I didn't think of the users group!
Sold my Rob Roy on CL to a guy in NC and I sure wasn't advertising there. Not sure how the Bayfield got tracked down, but she is back in Canada with a great couple.
They don't all find homes but I'm sure this one will.
Best wishes Folks!
