Thanks!

Re: Wind generator Air X, Rutland or similar

We have a used Air X that I traded a bunch of fishing gear to get. Never used it. I spun it with a drill to check that there is an output. Its one of those projects I have not gotten to but would consider passing it on. Would you like to make an offer? Our boat is currently in St Augustine.

Re: Wind generator Air X, Rutland or similar

we have an Air X and are relatively happy, but given what I know now would ideally have the D400. Quiet machine and produces power at lower wind speeds.
Air X needs a bit of wind to produce a good charge, but produces a lot with enough wind. Breeze X similar machine, same company, produces power at lower velocities but doesn't produce as much as the Air X. Both can be fitted with new blades (from Portugal) which make them substantially quieter.

When comparing wind buggers ignore power claims and focus on power/wind curves and if available noise curve based on wind speed.

aaronede, If you wind up with an Air X or an Air Breeze (newer model), you can access their manuals at www.primuswindpower.com . George

Re: Wind generator Air X, Rutland or similar

I have both a Rutland and an Ampair I love them for their silence and the fact that I never have to shut them down and they will last a lifetime. But output is low, only two amps at 12 knots. The air X has a very small generator and I wouldn't think it would last very long. There are newer generation wind generators that are quiet and have higher outputs and are safe to leave unattended, if I had to do it again I think I would buy a Superwind. And I think it was already stated but when looking at outputs the only wind speeds that are critical are the lower wind speeds. And not all companies give accurate outputs.

Re: Wind generator Air X, Rutland or similar

I have a Superwind and love it. I did a Twostar Race with a first generation AirX a fews years ago. I was almost deaf when I arrived in Newport. If you get an AirX make sure it has the newer quiet blades.
