WM(s) PowerSurvivor 80 / Sea Recovery 360 (Projects)

Ok, these are RO projects for folks that understand RO systems, routine maintenance, and refurbing used systems to re-install on a different boat. Each system will require the typical fittings for thru-hull intake/seacock/strainer/thru-hull brine discharge. These required installation items are required for new system installations as well.

In addition to the above items you will also need to purchase low pressure braided water hose for connecting the low pressure sea water intake system, as well to discharge fresh water to the tank, and brine to the discharge thru hull fitting. Also, you will/may need to purchase new or modify the existing high pressure hose. All of these low and high pressure hose lengths are dependent upon your unique installation requirements.

So what do we have here.... Really this is a fun and easy project if you have any mechanical/plumbing/electric skills. If not then you can 1. LEARN so you can take care of your system, or 2. pay for someone to do the refurb and installation.

PowerSurvivor 80-II GPD / 12VDC
- 12 VDC / 8 amp; 3.4 GPH / 82 GPD
- Worked 3 years ago when removed for my boat being rehabbed and the RO stored at home. Never needed the RO for day sailing so never re-installed.
- Pump did not leak when removed, plan on refurbishing with a new seal kit provided.
- Plan on replacing the membrane element and end cap O-rings. Source this from a RO systems dealer/distributor, not the mfg. or you will pay through the nose. The mfg. does not design or build the membrane or pressure vessel so buy it from a membrane dealer. I think the elements are less than $200.00.
- The high pressure hose from the pump to the membrane was crimped in handling and will need to be replaced with a suitable length hose for your installation, or use the old hose and take it to a hydraulic shop to swage on a new end fitting. Note the cut hose fitting on the membrane cylinder. You can also purchase and install by yourself a mechanical re-usable end fitting. Similar in concept as rigging swage fittings vs. mechanical DIY fittings.
- Includes all items in photo i.e. pump seal kit, chemicals, filter housings, manual, etc.

Price: Tough one here, new is horribly expensive and this one needs refurbishing. Considering I think used in this case is worth 25% of retail less the refurb cost I am thinking $500.00 for the RO items is fair and still a very good deal if you put in another $200-$500 to purchase the required installation materials and new membrane.

Price: $500.00 + shipping from Palmetto, FL, or free local pickup. No guarantee, warranty, returns so consider this before purchasing.

Sea Recovery 360
Now this one really is a project for the strong! I was going to cruise (boat with a generator) to far away lands and ran across the "remnants" of this RO system. It is a 12vdc unit that I was going to convert to 110vac by replacing the motor/pump with a traditional 110/220vac Dayton motor/Cat pump combo. My plans changed and this project was shelved so all I have are parts in the picture of a system that someone may want to use for parts or to re-build this system.

- Motor/Pump - special recovery type pump system that can be used (I do not know if the recovery module it actually works). I was going to remove the module from the chassis and install the Motor/Cat Pump
- Nice chassis for the DYI type person to build a new system
- Electronic control package does turn on but does not include any sensors or electronic control valves
- Lots of filter housings to use
- Membrane was pickled according to previous owner but I did not witness the process. Worst case is you need a new element but the pressure vessel appears in very good condition.

So considering you get a bunch of filter housings, electronic board, chassis, high pressure housing & membrane, and the original 12vdc pump assembly I am thinking $350.00. But, no guarantee of operating condition.

Price $350.00 + shipping Palmetto, FL or free local pickup. No guarantee, warranty, returns so consider this before purchasing.

Man! If I were still in the US I'd be all over both of these units.

The Pur/Katadyn 80 looks like it's in great condition- and the price is even better than great.

Just the Procon pump/motor is worth the asking price alone with the Sea Recovery.

Someone jump on these!

Matt

Thanks Matt! Yes, hopefully someone will have some fun with the WM project(s).

Just have to say that wife and I really enjoy your YouTube channel and have followed you along your path. Thanks for all you both do to promote cruising and by media to join in your travels.

Cheers,
John

If anyone is interested to enhance this great offer, I have a PowerSurvivor80 pressure vessel with old membrane. I am in Mexico (La Paz) so shipping is a consideration.
$85 not including shipping
