Cruising Logistic Question

Experienced sailor bug to do some end of summer cruising - petosky - harbor springs - north port - beaver island - mackinaw island and back to a nearby port for storage in about 10 days, possibly solo. Thinking of buying 25 to 30 footer. Assume dockage fees would run about $35/night. No plans on what to do with boat afterwards but thinking of putting it up for storage to reduce cost. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks.

Have you looked into boatbound.co? Seems a bit more logical than buying a boat for a ten day trip.

Thanks - just checked boat bound and only one sailboat listed is a Catalina 36 for $350+/day. Prices for sailboats now for 26-30 ft on Craigslist are $1500 to $4k.

Owning a boat also has ongoing costs: maintenance, storage, insurance, and registration. In the price range you are talking about, I would expect annual maintenance alone to be similar to, or even exceed, the original price.

Not to mention that a boat in that price range that was of sufficient size for cruising would probably need a further investment of time and money for repairs and gear before it would even be ready for the trip.
