The suggestions on shipping the mast are good. A new boat showed up at the marina this year. They brought it via the canal. And- here's the hint- just before leaving they ran into a truck that was going from the origin marina straight to the new marina. They shipped the mast for under $500 on that truck. So if you are flexible, make it known you want to find a truck that's going from Erie to NYC, and pay the driver to take the mast.
