Georgian Bay to Lake Ontario

Interested in how many days we should plan for a delivery from Midland to Toronto in early August...of course weather dependent. If we hold an average of 6 knots either sail or under power, is this doable in 7-8 days?

Re: Georgian Bay to Lake Ontario

I'm told the Trent takes about 10 days to do. I've never done it though, so please confirm. It's not so much about speed of the boat. The 42 locks just take time to do.

Going around through the rivers via the Welland will also take time. If you're running 24 hrs at 6 knots you can probably do it in four-five days, although the Welland will be done at the lock master's schedule. Took us 14 hours from sign in.

I'd not want to do this trip that fast, but if it's a delivery, then it's probably possible via the Welland as long as you don't run into any major weather issues.

The locking times on the Trent-Severn will be the determining factor.

I went from Trenton to Fenelon Falls in 7 days and back in 4 days.....it's all lock timing.

Have done Parry Sound to Kingston in 5 or 6 days (24 hours/day).

Sad that it's a speedy delivery.

On our side of the lake the Trent-Severn trip is the one you plan for after retirement, buy a powerboat, take half a summer to do the trip, and sell the powerboat.

I understand it is an absolutely beautiful waterway.

Re: Georgian Bay to Lake Ontario

Sorry, can't take the Trent-Severn since our draft is just shy of 7'. Need to sail around Georgian Bay, Lake Huron, St-Clair, and Lake Erie. Hence my original question on timeframes. Thanks!

Re: Georgian Bay to Lake Ontario

I am wondering if anyone could suggest a good place/marina in which to rent a boat with sleeping berth - for two adults?

We're planning to boat up the Trent (Lake Ontario to Peterborough stretch) and would prefer to leave our small fishing boat at home and instead, find a cruiser/trawler or similar for a week. Early August 2016 timeframe.

Any suggestions would be most helpful!

Thanks.
