That would be swarms of black flys for me.

Anyone have photos of sites and anchorages or remarkable things, please post in this thread. Pictures may help stimulate more interest in the cruising on Superior.

If you have a bunch on a personal blog, consider posting a few photos or excerpts here with a link to your blog for more details on your own cruising.
I have a couple of pictures on the iPad here with me. May find a few more on the computer later. I know I had a picture of a wooden shipwreck remnants washed ashore.

That just keeps the tourists away

Actually, there are few black flies or skeeters when sailing Superior. A bit in the anchorages, but if you keep some distance from shore they usually don’t get too bad. The cold water keeps them on land.

I have tons of pics of Superior, although sadly not on my blog. It began after we left Superior. I guess I should organize a Superior section.

Steady, I’ll did through and post a few select ones. Always fun to look through old pics.

Hey Steady,

I've been chartering for the last couple of seasons from Bayfield, meaning that we stick to the Apostle Islands. If interested in joining as crew sometime, message me.

Don't worry--my profile mentions that I own a Com-Pac 16. That's not what we sail in the Apostles. 😁😁.

Not that it couldn't be done..

I met a couple who sailed down the east coast of the U.S. in a Scamp. He was all excited but she, perhaps unsurprisingly, seemed rather less excited about it. Oh yes, I forgot to mention the Scamp is just a hair under twelve feet (roughly 3.5 meters)

Speaking of wives on small boats, here's a picture of my wife on our Com-Pac 16. Looks sort of like 100 knots in the driveway.
