Transporting Sailboat Lake Erie to Chesapeake Bay

We're taking the plunge and moving on our Islander 36 sailboat next summer, Escape III. We will be doing our last trip thru the Great Lakes then to the Chesapeake Bay and south by fall.

We want to skip the canals and transport Escape III over land from Eastern Lake Erie to Northern Chesapeake Bay. Any advise on marinas to use and transport companies.

We've never done this and looking for any advise. This is my first post so I hope I did right.

Re: Transporting Sailboat Lake Erie to Chesapeake Bay

We were going to use Joule Transport to do the same thing but ended up taking the canals. Glad we did...it was a really cool experience. I might never go that way again, but I would have been missing a great experience if I had not done it. If nothing else, it was great training for dealing with bridges and the few locks in the ICW. You should maybe reconsider...

We have an Island Packet and Joule does all of the transports for the Island Packet factory. They have a stellar reputation.

Paul

Here is a really good company that is top in the field and it is family owned. I have used them a number of times and will always use them. I have never had an issue with them.
