Best sailboats for an ocean crossing?

I know I want to look into monohulls, what are some good types of sail boats to cross the ocean?

Just for ocean crossings? Big. As big as you can afford.

On the flip side big is expensive, and difficult to handle when not off shore.

You want something with an interior you find comfortable for the time your in a marina or on the hook.. plenty of hand holds for when at sea and at least 1 good sea berth close to the hatchway.. if there's two of you on passages.. hot bunk.
Long fin with skeg hung rudder would be pretty handy.. or something like the Hurley's.. 3/4 full w skeg hung rudder..
Comfort is relative at sea for me.. most times its bracing one way or the other.. bunk.. cooker.. cockpit.. now and then the head... when at sea.. bludi hard work.
In port or on the hook however its a whole other thing.. now its a home.. so something that sits nicely and then just have it set up so you can stow and sail in 20 mins.
Should you ever have to.. it happens..

Thank you for all the helpful advice. I came across a 36' Pearson 367. I heard they were good for blue water. Anyone have any experiences with these boats?
