Buying a boat in the Caribbean

hello Sailors,

Can someone please share how does buying process goes, besides looking at the boat and getting a survey? Is taking a test sail customary? What about fixing deficiencies, deducting from the asking price vs fixing it by the owner? Paperwork, money transfer, etc. How long does it usually take and anything to watch out for?

Thanks.
