Caribbean Money Making?

Ok, so I'm going to give it a shot living in the Caribbean with my 2 buddies, however, we will be dead broke, and I was wondering, what are some ways of making money out there?
I was thinking island tours, reef tours etc. charging $20 for the day, I read that you don't need a TON of money out in the Caribbean for food and all that stuff, and I understand you do need a lot of money for repairs and all that, so if anybody has experienced this, I would love to here your thoughts and stories.

Re: Caribbean Money Making?

This will not work for so many reasons.

1. The locals are already doing all this and will get really, really PO'd at foreigners coming to their country and taking their business.

2. It isn't legal. You have to have work permits just like foreigners that visit the US.

3. The PO'd locals in point #1, if they don't take matters into their own hands will report you to the authorities that enforce point #2.

4. Not much money to be made doing this.

5. Most places you show up with no money will quickly decide they don't want you around.

So long as you have a boat you aren't homeless. But the moment you try to do anything that smacks of the tourist trade that the locals are already doing you will be harassed.

If you have some trade (doctor, dentist, mechanic) that the locals don't you will likely be left alone. At least as long as you do work for the locals at local wage scales.
