Not this. It was our first boat, and the name didn't last long.

Re: New boat name

I know this is an oldish thread, but my wife and I were joking recently about naming our next boat "Long Term Care" or "Assisted Living."

Oh, he's in Assisted Living -- poor bastard. . . .

Whats the big deal with renaming a boat, Other than superstition,

There are plenty of big ships floating around with name changes,

I had a friend with a boat named Scamp. I asked him why the name. He said his prior boat had a long foreign name and when he got in trouble USCG took forever trying to get him to spell it.

Precisely the reason that my brother and I have crisp little names. Both of my parents had trouble spelling their own names as children.

I'm somewhat intrigued by names like "Office." All sorts of advantages such as scheduling "Gee, I'd like to help but I have to spend all day at The Office." And tax accounting "Wow, look how much we spent on Office Supplies!"

But be careful... I waited too long to name my Hobie 16 and it started thinking that its name was "Oh Sh*t!"
