Radio Station Licence for Canadian yacht?

Can anyone tell me the scoop on getting a radio station licence in Canada? TC's web site indicates if you're Can registered & operating in Can waters you're exempt, but need one in international waters. Then the site just refers you to a form from what I can see. What sort of hoops do you need to jump thru, and how often? And yes, I have a radio operator's licence.

This is also true in reverse. We needed to get the full international station license to take our radios to Canada. This is the law but I've never heard of any enforcement issues nor have we been asked to produce the paper. (Great Lakes)

I am sure you can find what you need if you do a Google search. The Canadian Fed sites are pretty user friendly.

Re: Radio Station Licence for Canadian yacht?

Unfortunately Google hasn't been too helpful this time, nor the gov't sites.

I know from the aviation side Industry Canada (who regulate radio signals) essentially didn't do any enforcement, but I still would like to know the requirements.

Try here? You can probably also find a help number to call.

Re: Radio Station Licence for Canadian yacht?

Yes, I'm going to have to as we operate outside Canadian waters. I spoke to a fellow at Industry Canada & I believe the cost is $47 per year.

Re: Radio Station Licence for Canadian yacht?

I just did this. You need to go to the Industry Canada site and fill out an application for s ship's radio station licence. It's hard to find on their web site....

IC-3020

The licence costs $36 per year. I sent my application in on December 6th and got the reply two days ago.
