Sailing dream

Hello everybody
Well, I would like to ask you guys some very basic questions, just to provide you a bit of my sailing background let me tell you that I'm 30 years old and I've been sailing for around 2 years and a half, I live in Swizerland, so my sailing experience reduces to lakes only in a 6.5 meter sailboat which doesn't require any permit, but since the first time I tried it, I knew it was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, and so I'm working hard to be able to achieve an economic independence to be able to sail around the world.

Well, as all of you started once, I'm a bit clueless about the sailing requirement to dpermitso I have some questions, please give me a hand with it.
1. Which type of sailing licence/permit do I need?
2. How long does it take to get it?
3. Where to get it fast but with a good trainnig?
4. What is the minimal size/length of sailboat recommended for 2 people in a oceanic crossing?
5. Bestest places to buy a boat (pricewise)?

Guys, thank you very much for taking your time to help me answer this questions, I bet most of you once dreamed like I'm doing now.

Fair winds,
Jose

As a private person, there is no "sailing around the world license" you have to have to have.

There are documents you'll need tho: DOCUMENTS YOU WILL NEED —

An ICC will often be needed as well: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intern..._of_Competence

What exactly you'll need depends on the boat you're going to buy and where you'll take her - each country has its own laws and regulations.

Also, you'll need permits for your radio etc. - but again, what you'll need exactly depends on what equipment you'll have onboard.

People have crossed oceans in the smallest boats, but since you'll be living on it, I personally wouldn't go smaller then 32' -- 40' if you want to be reasonably comfortable.
But it's a very personal choice - there's couples living on and sailing boats under 30' happily and people who'd refuse to do the same on anything less then 50'.

Depends on where you are, where you want to start sailing and how you'd transfer the boat.

Re: Sailing dream

Lizzy Belle gave pretty great advice.

To start getting an idea of prices, and how they correlate to location, you should try sites like yachtworld.com. It is basically porn for the boat dreamer.

RYA ICC most recognised.

2. How long does it take to get it?
3. Where to get it fast but with a good trainnig?

You can get all the info here.. and the most local/nearest training centres to you.

4. What is the minimal size/length of sailboat recommended for 2 people in a oceanic crossing?

It has been happily done smaller but personally I'd say a minimum of 30ft and 8.5ft+ beam..

5. Bestest places to buy a boat (pricewise)?

Depends on what you are looking for and where you want to start your adventure.. lots of deals going in Greece at the moment.. also the Caribe is a great place to fly and buy

Guys, thank you very much for taking your time to help me answer this questions, I bet most of you once dreamed like I'm doing now.
