selling tax clarification

I put my boat for sale in craighlist at exemple 100 000 USD
British virgin island flag

What about the selling tax in florida 6% tax

Do the buyer will have to pay the price more the 6 % = 106 000 USD
Or do i will have to pay the 6% and just get = 94 000 USD

And about the US Duty tax of 1.6% (1600 USD)
Who have to pay it ? is that also included in the sailing price

So if i pay everything : I will just get 92 400 USD

i am right or Not ?


And if i sell it to NON us Citizen, will be a difference ?

A Florida resident will have to pay the sales tax, if they want to leave it in the state. Otherwise, you get some time to get the boat out of the state. You will not pay the sales tax, the buyer will.

The complicated part will be the transfer of title for a boat documented in the BVI. You will probably need maritime legal assistance. Or someone who knows more than I do! They can also answer the duty question.
