Yeah if I did it again I might not have spent the cash on the expensive grad school, gotten caught up in this whole project to make a lot of money, and instead just started sailing more earlier. Not that all this hasn't been fun too!!
For some of us (like me), getting over the fear of not having enough is the hardest part. Thing is, it's going to be ok. If its not, then we'll deal with it, and it won't be so bad. That's what I tell myself.

Re: What is Everyone Doing?

Hey aclevername, take a look at the boat Zee mentioned unless you already got one. The ONLY way to get over fear of not having enough is to act out what you said after "Thing is".

I once was in a terrible mood because I did not have enough, so went to talk with my friend Edwin, a Jamaican guy from the hills who is poor but always happy. I asked him "How do you manage to always be happy?" He replied "I wake up in the morning and realize I have just enough to get through the day. I have always had just enough to get through the day, so I can't imagine NOT having enough."

Re: What is Everyone Doing?

built in yokohama is a selling point, btw, as it makes the boat not taiwanese or a leaky teaky. different building standards.
has worm gear steering, and is sweet..just a lil pelican pooo but is cleanable.

Re: What is Everyone Doing?

The Mariner 32 Ketch if a very sweet little boat. I came close to getting one just before finding my CT-41, but it sold very quickly. I believe they are also a Wm Garden designed boat? Lots of them have crossed oceans. Lot better investment than working to make lots of money then retiring too old and jaded to sail.

Re: What is Everyone Doing?

this is a mariner 31. is not the same boat as a mariner 32.
is not designed by garden, i was told who did design it but i have forgotten, as i dont do names well...
mariner 32 looks like a mariner 40, but the mariner 31 is a lil different and some sleeker with sweeter lines. she has a perkins 4-108, which i was advised runs well.
worm gear steering, and some other good cruising items...this kind of steering was used also for the wooden mariner 40 a neighbor had--
and as i already mentioned, yokohama build.
