Yacht insurance for South Florida, Bahamas and Carib

I plan on sailing my yacht from Southern Florida to Bahamas, Virgin Islands and Southern Islands.
I also plan on offering charter operations during my voyages.

Does anybody know of any insurance companies / underwriters that offer coverage for this area and operations.
Thanks.

Re: Yacht insurance for South Florida, Bahamas and Carib

Once you get out of the US, Guardian, a British underwriter based in Trinidad, covers the Caribbean, Bahamas, etc. A number of companies work with them. I used Caribbean Insurers, out of Tortola. The problem (not uncommon) with ideas of doing what I will call "casual charters", is that, per the policy, boats operated illegally forefeit their insurance, from the inception. And people may not realize that to do legal charters, you need licenses, inspections, certifications, permits, etc. etc etc. So , if your idea is to skirt this, the real issue is whether you can get all of that sorted out. If you can, and it's definitely an if, insurance will be no problem. If you are going to try to slip by with paying guests that you call friends and family or somesuch, your insurance is not going to bail you out, and you may get in a world of other hurt. Sorry, but those are the facts.

Thank you for the Good information and sound advice.
My plan is to conform to local rules and regulations in each country and keep all charters on a sound legal basis with full compliance with Insurer's and country of origin's requirements.

Thanks again
