East or West Coast?

Has anyone cruised the Caribbean and East Coast of USA and also cruised the West Coast of the USA and the West Coast of Mexico that they could give a quick comparison of the locals and the local foods. I spent a few years in Manzanillo, Mexico and really enjoyed that but am wondering if the people and foods are equally good on the East Coast and Caribbean. More average cruising rather than high end. Hopefully this question is explained enough. I can buy my boat on the East or West Coast. btw, it seems that today is an especially good day to deal! thanks!!!

Re: East or West Coast?

We learned to sail on the west coast, But we chose the east to cruise. From Maine to the Bahamas is very diverse. Then hook around the Florida keys and up the West coast of Florida, you would not believe how many varieties of fresh shrimp there are along the way. Sailing into New York Harbor and past the Statue of Liberty may bring a tear or two. The blue crabs in the Chesapeake bay are my favorite. Oh by the way, do you like warm water? It is about everywhere except above cape Cod and that is not that bad until further north. We have made trips up and down and are amazed at how clean most of the water is. The Bahamas will take us many more winters to see most of it, Then maybe look at the Carib. There is a lot to see, but hey, that's what cruising is all about. Where ever you choose...Godspeed!
