Gibraltor to Southhampton

Hi There,

I am contemplating sailing our boat up to Southhampton, England from the med around October/November next year. Does anyone have experience on this leg with prevailing weather/wind conditions for that time of the year? Shoot across the bay of Biscay or hug the coast, which route?
Regards

November is very late , even though the northern trade winds tend to have died along the Portuguese coast. At that time the weather is like throwing dice. Especially approaching the western approaches

It can be done and I've done it. But you may get stuck or hammered or both !

Wot he said...
Be prepared to spend time sitting in Baiona waiting for a window.. it can vary from year to year but it would not hurt to bring your plans forward a month to Sept-Oct...
