Leaving Chesapeake and heading to Bahamas

Plan to leave the beginning of November. Easy route is head to BVI. Really want to start in the Bahamas and head SE. Looking for suggestions on route and timing. I'm in no hurry, but don't want to spend any more then a few months of the winter there. I have a Lagoon 42 and looking for Turks by February.

Leaving Chesapeake and heading to Bahamas

Did it this season. Deltaville to green turtle cay direct 800 miles. But if I were to do it again i would either go direct to usvi or stay in Bahamas. DR and PR are nice but that thorny path is a major PITA.

Re: Leaving Chesapeake and heading to Bahamas

we sailed down the coast of the USA - not sure of your mast height - we did on shore and off shore - to Miami and then jump across and take your time through the Bahamas before heading on down - we did not do this route - we went west to the western carib first then came back across and did the south coast of the DR and loved it - good sailing and good stops along the way - but that means working your way down through the windward then east

you got time to plan so time to look at all your options
