As long as you are planning to anchor or moor every night a copy of "Charlie's Charts" covering your area would be a big help. It will help with the local knowledge that is so handy in strange waters, they're great.

Fortunately we will a captain/pilot who knows the area well with us and only planning to move at night four times. Miss too much of the beauty at night. Just can't be avoided completely.

I'm jealous, BandB! I loved visiting all of those ports on previous trips ,and would love to stop in again , but... We have set up a Facebook page,Vostok Adventures, to share our photos with others . We'll let you know how bad the spring log conditions are .

Growing up aboard commercial fishboats and towboats and logging camps in the PNW, I've never forgotten the magic of that area... while it was 50+ years ago, the memories are still vivid of that country. You really don't hit the jackpot until you are north of Desolation Sound and the rapids (Dent and Yulcatta's) where the eagles and salmon rule the waters. I envy your trip... Phil
