Sounds like what we did in 2005 but we spent one year in Nova Scotia and four years in Newfoundland but we did end up sailing down the coast of Nova Scotia as well through the ICW and finally reached Georgetown Bahama's. Being we are back here in Ontario now we plan on leaving again in 2015 for another trip

Re: Advice leaving canada

We'll be passing by your way in 2015. We leave in about five months (yikes!), departing from Thunder Bay, Ontario. We plan to cruise the Great Lakes, and winter in Lake Ontario. Then in 2015 we'll carry on down the St. Lawrence to the Maritimes or NFLD. If money is holding out OK we'll spend a season or more exploring the region before turning south.

So we may cross wakes with you rigalio.

Re: Advice leaving canada

Yes we will be as will be about another 4 boats we are all getting our boats ready this year to strike out sometime in May. Last time I went I was blown away by how much different Canada and its people are once you get past Quebec city. When I had decided last time to leave, the manager at our club in Ottawa had suggested to me, because I was new to sailing and very excited suggested sailing out the St Lawrence. Then once I reached Halifax if I was still as excited I would have met most of everything I would on my sailing trips. But if I had lost favour at least I was still in Canada and could sell my boat and find everything a little easier then being way down the ICW.

Not sure who your question was aimed at rigalio. It's more than a year away, so I can't tell you for sure, but if life is unfolding as planned we'll likely be passing by Montreal in May or June, 2015. It will depend on weather.

Perhaps we'll all be sailing together

Reminds me of our first trip. Three couples in the yacht club one winter talking about going south. We were still working, the other two couples were newly retired. We had cruised a lot on Lake Ontario together so we all agreed. Next fall no more hauling the boat, we were all heading south. Come September guess how many couples left.
