Anchoring Out - PNW/ Seattle or Peninsula

They family Here is finding out to live aboard there is a LONG waiting list for live aboard. So we are wondering how feasible it would be to anchor out till there comes a spot open. Wife and 18 year old son like the idea. I told them they would be really ruffing it. I am interested in anybody that has done this part time or full time that have done this. Any advice in this would be great as well. Wife and son are excited about doing this and are willing to do it. The wife says its Next Great Big adventure with me and Excited about the idea. Thank you ahead of time for advice info ETC!

It's been a while but I spent a year on the hook off Pt. Townsend & the winter on Lake Washington. I've heard of a number of people anchoring up & down the sound.

In Lake Washington on the Seattle side, the Seattle Harbor Patrol will be on you in about five minutes telling you to move on. The East side may be different.

Hopefully, the Eastside communities are just as diligent. There is moorage available in the Seattle area, but you must pay for it...
