Another Baltimore Blast

Well, here we are again - getting pounded by winter weather for the third time since December. Wind is howling, it is snowing and blowing like stink, dog is unhappy, but we are still living aboard.

Posted a picture under my profile, taken out of the window; lots of ice inside the marina.

Will Spring never arrive???!!!??

Best from Baltimore where we are snowed in....
aboard s/v Peregrine

Sparklegirl50--Spring will arrive. So will the hurricanes. Snow for you. Hurricanes for us. We had a calm summer, but a cold winter in N.E. Florida. This shifting artic air has to stop. Last year, 2008, the crops were flooded. In 2009, the freeze has done in many crops. The positive factor is you are looking at the snow.

All things considered, I'd rather be in Florida. We haven't been anywhere in days, because the city is basically crippled. We did manage to get to the grocery on Monday, but roads are in terrible shape. Two way streets are down to one lane, so it's driver beware.

I'm sure it will get better in Florida before it gets better here!!

This is a big one. Here in Bermuda we are at a steady 45knots/gust 50-55.
No snow, you gotta love that Atlantic conveyor!!
Tomorrow we are supposed to be steady 50 with regular hurricane gusts and a lot of rain. Temp will be mid 50s, cold for us.
BLUESTOCKING is riding comfortably at her mooring here in front of the house. Helm locked 15* to port. she will round up with a gust on her port side, and quickly fetch-off in a starboard gust and fall back. I have found that this stops her sailing forward on her hull windage.

Down here in Mt. Vernon, on the eastern shore the little cottage that I am in is facing the river and fully exposed to the north and west. Some of the dock boards on the pier next door are being ripped off as I type and the water is about ten feet from the door. This is more like a hurricane than a snow storm.

Chief,

We "indigenous natives" sometimes smile at the panic at Hurricane season. You and I both know that this winter stuff around here is generally much fiercer.
I'm surprised that we don't already have a Coastie C-130 and chopper on the ground. Gotta love those guys and gals.

Kismet,

You should check out the pics I posted in my profile of the December storm. We didn't take many pics of the first February storm. How many storm pictures do you need??? At this point, it sort of feels like, if you've seen one, you've seen them all.

Front is passing just North of us right now. 80 knots recorded a number of times early this morning. Steady 55 to 64 knots now. So much for June to November eh!!
