Re: Anyone in Cooktown Australia area?

Hey Everyone!

I am super happy to report back to you that thanks to two Australian gentlemen in their most awesome Toyotas, Martin's boat has been retrieved, lifted and towed/trailed 150 miles thru the beaches, brooks, marshes and bush fires all the way to Cooktown.

I think this is an outstanding example of what kind of help and support sailors far from home can get when they fall in trouble.

The skill, the know-how and the will of these two Aussies is absolutely outstanding. I am attaching a link to the Czech sailing magazine (Krasa Jachtingu) facebook gallery where part of the outback sailing odyssey has been shown in Martin's pictures.

I also want to say BIG THANK YOU to everybody who read this thread and came up with ideas and information and help.

For Martin now in Cooktown, the next stage is rebuilding the boat to sail on. Difficult, but given that he actually built his first (earlier) boat, I have no doubt he will make it. We will not see him in the West Indies this winter (as was our plan), but we will see him there maybe as soon as next year!

I am overjoyed!

Hurrah!!!!

Australia is an amazing country and Australians are amazing people. Told you so ;-)
