Brexit EU Residency and VAT

I am interested if anyone out there has experience navigating the tricky business of retirement in Europe ( France or Spain perhaps?) and getting a transfer of residence where the boat, your cars, motorhome and other personal belongings are imported tarif free into your new home of residence. The trickiest part is that we live full time on the boat. Does anyone have experience in having their boat qualify as their accomodation. I am thinking with documentation of berthing fees paid and a letter of explanation that this could be workable. We are retired and have the resources required to live and can check all the nedded boxes in getting the transfer of residence except for knowing what they will accept as your accomodation. We are looking at getting a long stay Visa for France and then apply for residency and Transfer of Residence- Anyone else been down this road ? Thanks!

A tax advisor is good advice, with a transfer of residence, (TOR) if you meet certain conditions as to the age and ownership of vehicles and you agree to terms and conditions many countries will exempt them from VAT.
