Buying a Boat? Don't Panic

We are looking for a cat and have seen some videos designed to create urgency for buyers...lost supply, etc. Funny I would think a lot of buyers would put their plans on hold. Annyyywhooo..., I think this video represents a much more balanced commentary on the current situation:

Re: Buying a Boat? Don't Panic

Replacements for the charter trade will consume the next two years production from all the sources that have been feeding that pipeline. So, if any seller actually HAS any inventory, even of similar products, it will be sold for whatever price they ask, and sold quickly as the charter companies look to get back in business.

Yeah, that would put some urgency on any buyers who didn't want to wait two years, or go to Europe and the far east looking for something sooner and probably used.

Re: Buying a Boat? Don't Panic

on some french portal I read yesterday, that 300 boats were lost to Irma; I wonder why this should suddenly change a buyers to a sellers market? not all 300 were cats, & I guess to replace 200 wouldn't take the "big" yards all that long
