Very true. There are some really nice marinas in McDill Air Base (Tampa) and Naval Air Station Key West, those I've seen personally. It just depends on where you're looking.

Budget for $20 per foot per month, then you cant go wrong.

Comparing Docking/Slip Costs

Boca Chica definitely has one, a very nice one too, no fuel though, very good inexpensive laundry.
$1 a ft, per day, includes water, electricity and pump out. Not very close to KY though, likely would need to rent a car.
I think the waiting list for long term is long, very long.
