Re: Cruising is a Philosophy

Cruising is...

1) philosophy: the study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and existence, esp. when considered as an academic discipline.

......The period of your life before you buy the boat.

2) existentialism: a philosophical theory or approach that emphasizes the existence of the individual person as a free and responsible agent determining their own development through acts of the will.

......The period of your life when you've left port and learn to sail, to anchor, to keep everyone aboard alive, well, and happy.

3) art: the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.

......When you've got it sussed well enough that when in motion your boat cleanly cuts the waves, dances with the wind, and is a shear wonder to be aboard.

4) lifestyle: the way in which a person or group lives.

......That time when the anchor is set, the sun nears the horizon, and you pop the top on a cold one. Alternate: The first cup of coffee at sunrise in a new anchorage.

Um... Have more thoughts on this but please excuse... gotta go unclog a toilet. Who was it that first said cruising is boat repairs in exotic places?
